Security Assistant (Part-Time Evenings)


  • Part-time position, approximately 5.75 hours per day
  • Starting hourly rate: $15.33-$18.91 
  • Non-exempt
  • Benefits not included

Summary: Assists in the security and protection of all students, staff, visitors and property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Patrols high school campus and other facilities as needed.
  • Coordinate all high school facilities after-hour emergency requests.
  • Security appearance at high school functions, serving as a visible deterrent.
  • Conduct routine patrols of campuses to include buildings, parking lots, playgrounds, storage facilities, etc.
  • Provide crowd and vehicle control at extracurricular activities and special events.
  • Patrol district property, secure any unlocked property and report to local police any criminal violations observed.
  • Monitor students, visitors, and campus personnel on campus for campus behavior.
  • Prepare written reports (If applicable) and maintain daily work logs.
  • Operate a two-way radio, cellphone, and basic computer skills for writing reports & logs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel and/or school administrators.
  • Enforce traffic and parking regulations on district property.
  • Direct emergency vehicles when necessary.
  • Assist administrators with disturbances / fight / safety/security.
  • Report safety/security concerns to the proper authority.
  • Respond to panic/fire/burglar alarms.
  • Help maintain the security of windows and doors on district property.
  • Monitor field and building use for proper permits.
  • Detain and investigate suspicious persons/vehicles.
  • Prevent unauthorized persons from entering district property.
  • Escort unauthorized persons from district property.
  • Give assistance to staff, students, and patrons as needed.
  • Create and file reports and logs as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning district investigations and incidents.
  • Assist with any other duties deemed necessary for the good of the district.

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Willing to obtain certification as an Unarmed Security Officer
  • Prior law enforcement, security, or military background preferred.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Able to pass a background check.
