Drivers Ed Instructors - Community Ed & Rec 



Summary: Under the direction of the Lindbergh Schools Community Ed & Rec department and the Enrichment Program Supervisor, the Community Driver Education Instructor is responsible for all aspects of virtual classroom instruction, student in-person behind the wheel driving, and the learning experience of the students for the fee-based, non credit Community Driver Education Program. Maintains safe conditions by following all safety procedures and fosters a nurturing environment for students and families.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement a preset curriculum to students via Google Meet.
  • Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner. 
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. 
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. 
  • Create a virtual classroom environment that is conducive to learning. 
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. 
  • Provide 4 hours of instructional in-person drive time per student in a district owned vehicle.
  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations. 
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and program standards. 
  • Represent Lindbergh Schools in a professional, pleasant, and welcoming manner.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with staff team members, adults and students of all ages.
  • Ensure the vehicle is properly locked, secure, and clean post drive time.
  • Send incident reports to the Program Supervisor.
  • Stays abreast of new technology and any laws or regulation changes related to driving
  • Report all broken equipment and unsafe situations
  • Attend all mandatory trainings and meetings.
  • Performs relevant duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Current AAA Driver Education Certificate, MO Law Enforcement Certificate, or MO Driver Education Teaching Certificate required
  • Familiar with basic first aid
  • Familiarity with vehicular safety compliance and Missouri state driving laws
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office software and Google applications
  • Ability to push or lift up to 15 lbs
  • Ability to spend consecutive hours in a vehicle
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, especially evenings and weekends
  • Ability to bend, twist, lift and manipulate equipment and supplies
